Remember the Harry Loves Hermoine hat I was knitting for my niece?
Yeah, well that's still not done. But to demonstrate my full support for
Team Harry over all things "Twilight," I decided that while she was in
town for the family's annual summer visit we would have a Harry Potter
party and then go see the final movie together (completely awesome, by
the way).
I made treacle tarts,
rock cakes that won't break your teeth, Bertie Botts Every-Flavor Beans (Jelly Bellies in plastic wrap),
licorice wands,
and butterbeer (not pictured anywhere because it was so good there wasn't an opportunity to get a photograph).
Sami and Stina agreed to act as my house elves and helped finish making the pumpkin pasties.
There are so many knitting references in the "Harry Potter" series that there is a book of patterns, so with all the mentions of food, it should be no surprise that there are a TON of recipes to be found online. I was first inspired by this party. I used some of the recipes featured on that site and others from this site.
This was so much fun, and licorice dipped in chocolate is so much better than you'd think.
