All the romance you can stand

A friend asked me if I am a romantic.
The honest answer is that I am rarely romantic, but very much enjoy romance - sort of.
Romantic moments, movies and stories, yes please, but only to a certain point.
One of the reasons Sean and I are such a good fit is that our romance-tolerance level is about the same. He knows the precise moment when the romance is reaching a level neither of us can stand, which is usually when he will punch me in the arm or tell me to shut up.
Now that you know that, you'll understand a little better why I love this quote from "30 Rock" character Jack Donaghy: "They're Boston Irish Catholic, they mate for life, like swans ... drunk, angry swans."
Weird, I know, but there it is. This quote inspired a picture in my mind of something I would like to try painting. Recalling my attempts at painting in the past led me to just forget the idea all together.
So the same friend who asked if I'm a romantic is in that magical time at the beginning of a relationship when the man is trying to woo and win his lady. Ah, so romantic. Hearing bits about their dates and how happy she is reminds me of when Sean and I were first dating.
Inspired by all this sap, I decided it was time to try creating the painting.

I am so pleased with how it turned out!
As with most crafts I attempt, if I keep it simple I succeed.
Artists name their paintings, so I've decided to call this "The Headbutt" because calling it anything mushy would make me dry heave at the sight of it.

Shut. Up. I owe you a punch in the arm...

PS - I love the painting and it's name.

Who you callin' a sap? ;-)

Good painting! And the name totally makes it.

P.S. I feel kind of famous being mentioned in your blog.
