Heat Stroke Evasion Part 5: Gateway To Organization

The big blue cabinet is not my favorite piece of furniture.

Jack thought he would spice up this photo by standing on his hind legs. Mission accomplished.

I've wanted to refinish it since the day I got it, but didn't have a vision for it. So it sat, big and blue, taking up space and holding a whole lot of junk.
Other than cramming as much stuff into the blue cabinet as it would hold, there wasn't much of an organizational system in my craft room.
I didn't really know how I wanted to organize the room so I figured it was best to leave it a disaster until I figured it out instead of buying a bunch of stuff that I would later want to get rid of.
I knew I needed shelves and some kind of drawers or bins, but wasn't inspired until I saw this.
Our neighbor gave us two of his gates that were replaced after the hail storm. I've been thinking of what I wanted to do with that wood for awhile now, and this is a perfect.
I got a metal shelf and instead of using the plywood that came with it, I used the old fence wood. Sean, my handy hubby, helped me cut the wood and customize the height of the shelf to fit in the closet.

A little bit industrial, a little bit rustic, completely awesome and totally me.
I'd still like to make the organization a little nicer with some pretty bins or something, but much better than it was.
Bye bye, big blue cabinet!
